Cinnamon Chip Scones
These scones are cinnamon on cinnamon on cinnamon and I am such a big fan! They come together quickly and give you a cinnamon sweet fix without going to all of the work of making cinnamon rolls.
Cinnamon Chips Scones
Scones:
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
¾ teaspoon salt
¾ cup salted butter
½ cup whole milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamonÂ
1 cup cinnamon chips
1 tablespoon heavy cream
Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
¼ cup milk
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
Grate butter. Use your hands to coat the butter in flour and break it into pieces.
In a small bowl, whisk the milk and egg. Add the flour mixture and stir using a spatula until combined. Add cinnamon and cinnamon chips. Stir.
Dump the dough onto a floured surface and press it into a disk. Cut into eight wedges.
Using a pastry brush, brush each scone with cream. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Bake at 400 for 14-16 minutes or until golden. Allow them to cool slightly.
Whisk the glaze ingredients until smooth. Dunk the top of each scone in the glaze.
